While I plan to continue to produce blogs because I love the written word, I’ve ventured into the Tiktok world and will be posting videos exploring the science of autism, including some of my own work. Below you can find my post, “Cambrian Explosion of Autism Genes.” Please join me on the platform @emilylcasanovaphd. I look forward to seeing you there!
Hi, and thanks for your great content, as usual. I have a small request, though: could you please provide transcripts for these videos for those of us whose brains/bodies simply can’t do video? I find it much easier to focus on text and I don’t even have ADHD. Plus, videos, as you know, take time to get through and not everyone has the time to take out for watching them. I feel very frustrated about so much good medical stuff, particularly on EDS, now being only accessible within several hours of seminar videos–not good if you fatigue easily and have brain fog and only have so many “somewhat functional” hours in a day in which to do all that needs to be done. So I have to say I was somewhat disheartened to see your stuff moving to the video realm as well. I mean, I get it–easy to produce, more relaxed than writing–but it’s the opposite to consume for many of us who’d prefer the simplicity of text.
Very intrigued by the Neanderthal stuff, although I’m not a believer yet. Since I live in Finland at the moment, I’m immediately reminded of the stereotypes of Finnish people being introverted and reticent+that study that showed Finns had more Neanderthal genes than any other Caucasian population in Europe. Would be very interesting to compare data between their and your study. Unless you’ve done that already–couldn’t find a transcript for the Youtube video, so my video-challenged brain can’t tell.
Let me see what I can do. I’ll need to see if I can scrounge up my scripts. Unfortunately, I’ve been deleting them from my computer not really thinking about that once I’d recorded. But they should be somewhere in email…
Thanks a lot! I hated having to leave a critical comment, since I enjoy reading your stuff so much. The text form would make this stuff easier to discover and revisit as well.
